Hugh Jackman

Rugged masculinity is something of an expected thing when looking into the traditional ways of days gone by and looking at the men featured in the Darwinian timeline of male evolution. This kind of man is stereotypically seen as a complete opposite of the stylish and sophisticated gent we so often talk about. It is often seen as a rarity when the qualities of a rugged and buff male is combined with the qualities of an intelligent and sophisticated gent. Hugh Jackman is one of these rare gents who is a rare hybrid of things we associate with masculinity. He encompasses everything we look for in someone who understands style and carries themselves like a true gent. He is also a true family man who is compassionate and considerate to his wife and two adopted children and those around him. To top it off he is as buff as they come and takes health and fitness extremely seriously. Funnily enough he has been featured on the covers of magazines such as Men’s Fitness, GQ and Vanity Fair amongst others a number of times, which cements his place as a buff gentleman.

Born in Sydney to English parents, Jackman is the youngest of five children who pursued drama through the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. Immediately after his education he was offered a role in the ABC TV prison drama ‘Correlli’ in 1995 opposite his now wife Deborra-Lee Furness. He is also an accomplished singer and has starred as Gaston in the Australian production of ‘Beauty and the Beast’. In 1998 he was cast as Curly in the Royal National Theatre’s production of Oklahoma.
We all know him for his most famous role of ‘Wolverine/Logan’ in which he has appeared in a number of films as this role including the X-men films and his most recent production called ‘The Wolverine’ which he also produced. Prior to this movie he also exercised his musical roots starring as Jean Valjean in the movie version of the critically acclaimed Les Miserable.
According to the Movies official Facebook page the latest Wolverine film tells the story of Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, travelling to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he will face a host of unexpected and deadly opponents in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality.
As well as being a talented actor and singer, Jackman is also a dedicated philanthropist.  Jackman is a global advisor of the Global Poverty Project, for which he narrated a documentary and he and the project’s founder Hugh Evans visited the UN for the cause in 2009.Jackman hosted a preview of the Global Poverty Project Presentation in New York together with Donna Karan, Lisa Fox and his wife Deborra-Lee.He is also a World Vision ambassador and participated in the climate week NYC ceremony on 21 September 2009.
Jackman also supports The Art of Elysiumand the MPTV Fund Foundation, and he and his wife are patrons of the Bone Marrow Institute in Australia. Jackman also uses his Twitter account for charity. On 14 April 2009 Jackman posted on his Twitter page that he would donate $100,000 to one individual’s favourite non-profit organisation. On 21 April 2009 he revealed his decision to donate $50,000 to Charity:Water and $50,000 to Operation of Hope. If that wasn’t enough Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig made a unique place for themselves in the history of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS fundraising 8 December 2009, when it was announced that they had raised $1,549,953 in the 21st annual Gypsy of the Year competition, from six weeks of curtain appeals at their hit Broadway drama, A Steady Rain.
